Augustine is a third generation Angelino, his family having come to Los Angeles in the period 1890 -1910. He grew up in Anaheim, California, and attended Southern California College (renamed Vanguard University in 2000). He graduated from SCC in 1980 where he majored in English and minored in biblical studies. From an early age, Augustine has been deeply involved in inner work and various spiritual disciplines. Augustine's character, thinking, and conduct have been shaped by many influences, the foremost of which are Jungian archetypal psychology, Zen Buddhism, the human potential movement of the 1980's, and, most influentially, the teachings of Master Adi Da Samraj.
Augustine's main emphasis in life has been to place no limits upon his thinking or openness to the invisible world. This quest for a wide open mind subject to a reverent submission to his great teachers, both human and discarnate, has resulted in a tempered personal conduct which is reflected in his life and work. In the main, Augustine is a family man, a voracious reader, and is consumed by his writing and professional work.
By profession, Augustine works in scientific and technical lighting. He has sold lighting sources for most of his career. He began selling general lighting products to manufacturers of lighting fixtures, and gradually worked his way up to selling increasingly sophisticated lighting sources. Augustine has sold exotic lighting sources for use in motion pictures, television, and concerts. He has also sold xenon and blacklight sources used in special effects lighting, metal halide drivers for fiber optic systems, induction lighting, calibration sources for analytical instruments, and UV-C sources for air and water disinfection. During most of his career in lighting, Augustine worked for a major brand-name company that manufactures and sells light bulbs worldwide. In the course of his career, Augustine has traveled to several countries in Europe, Mexico, Alaska, and 25 other states in the US. He twice earned the Salesperson of the Year award from the division of the large multinational for whom he worked. He has also won The President's Club award and eight regional sales awards during his distinguished sales career. His total career sales approach $100,000,000.
Augustine works as a Sales Specialist for a premier German multinational firm and sells plasma, induction, and excimer-based radiation sources to very specialized manufacturers. The artificial lighting sources Augustine has worked with include laser flashlamps used in ND:YAG lasers; induction and plasmas sources used in photo-medicine; deuterium sources in forensic photospectroscopy, UV-A and UV-B curing lamps; and UV-C lamps used in air and water disinfection. His clients include laser and optical physicists in Silicon Valley; leading research universities and labs; the US military; and several prominent manufacturers of scientific and technical lighting devices. Augustine's professional life is highly focused on the science and technology of light. He has a deep and profound reverence for the uses, beauty, and importance of lighting. That Augustine's professional work has focused on both visible and invisible light is a metaphor for his personal work and calling. He is one of those fortunate people who gets to work with science on a daily basis and integrate his appreciation of it into his spiritual life. As so many of us do, Augustine posits a relationship between physics and spirituality and this is powerfully reflected in THE ORIGIN OF THE UNIVERSE AND THE MASONIC PYRAMID.
Augustine is a Master Mason, having been raised to the Sublime Degree on November 12, 2002. In addition to sharing in its charitable work, Augustine is also involved in Masonry for definite esoteric reasons. While looking for something in antiquity and in himself, he was summoned to Masonry in 2002 by two mysterious and compelling dreams. Augustine was knighted a Knight Templar in Masonry's acclaimed Van Nuys Commandery #9. He also holds the degrees of Royal Arch and Cryptic Masonry. When he was initiated a Mark Mason, Augustine's distinctive monogram was recorded in Masonry's Book of Marks:

______

Si Opus Quadratum vis, angulos praecidere noli..."
(If you want Square Work, you don't cut corners...)
